Her grandfather, as an amateur painter of charming landscapes from the Limousin area, first taught her the art of drawing, before she followed a classical art program at the Decorative Arts School of Limoges in the seventies.
Since her first exhibition in Limoges, 1978, Dominique SEIDLER has regularly exposed her paintings in either personal or collective exhibitions in Limoges and in other French cities.
Strongly inspired by dream-like, with crepuscular atmospheres, gorgeous moonlights, tender angels, fertile and enlightened nights, Dominique SEIDLER's work is marked with a neo-classical style clearly diverging from conceptual pictorial trends.
Her painted creations first began with small paper formats, mixing gouache paint with gold leading place to a rich graphical repertoire which strongly recalled illuminatings.
Another artistic technique regularly explored by Dominique SEIDLER's creativity is pasting. A random assembly of pieces cut from various origins, with the magic of Dominique SEIDLER's fingers, allows the birth of unusual odd scenes whose inspiration joins that of her painted works.
Starting in 2000, Dominique SEIDLER distanced herself paper and offered her dream-like universe a new way for expression on canvas with acrylic paintings. She also abandoned multiple graphical signs typical of her early work , which she felt confined her expression to too decorative style.
Her current production has gained in sobriety and directly goes to the profound matter of the subject, now recalling characters coming from old child readings, ancient legends or the Bible, altogether building the mixed and rich personal mythology of Dominique SEIDLER.
